Wellington Singer/Songwriter, Megan McCarthy has just celebrated her debut EP "Darkness" and is now setting her sights on completing her debut Album. With 2 Single releases scheduled later this year, piano power ballad "Don't Falter Now" and the sassy Soul/Funk/Rock infused "Candy Pop Stick Girl", her music continues to gather momentum.

Megan writes in a number of different styles combining elements of pop, rock, folk and soul/funk.

"I try not to put myself in a box, as a songwriter I feel it important to have as wide a range of influences as possible."

Performing as Rosé is but one of Megan's projects. She is an active member of the music community performing with Motown covers band "Sophie and the Realistic Expectations" and Classic Hits cover band "Duck Cover Roll". Megan is the owner and director of  Wellington Musicians Network, which supports emerging artists in the local community and facilitates music education within 3 centres around Wellington. Megan also sings as a professional soprano with the Wellington Gilbert and Sullivan Society, currently studying with renowned tutor and mentor Flora Edwards.

Her melodic writing and vocal production reflects her Classical training. She can replicate a wide variety of styles towards securing her cross-genre writing and performance.

The Debut EP "Darkness" was recorded and produced by Phil Riley at Life of Riley Studio, featuring the talents of Gina Agius (Drums), Peter Baillie (Bass and Guitar), and Ross McWhirter(Guitar). This EP is a collection of works composed in Megan's youth, reflecting elements of depression experienced through a string of unpleasant events. "Darkness" replicates visions of a recurring nightmare of a young woman lost inside a derelict house, searching around for an escape from the sense of impending doom, finding a mirror reflecting herself as a little girl. The lighter brighter side of life comes out in "Its Not Every Day", while strong survivor songs emerge with "Liar" and "It Won't Be Long".

Megan needed artwork that could reflect the concepts within her song "Darkness" and approached local artist Melissa McDougall towards creating a piece of art that could capture the essence of the EP. "Melissa is such an amazing artist, she was able to realise my vision in such a dramatic way! What she came up with took my breath away."
